National NSSLHA Names 2021-2022 Executive Council
August 8, 2021
(Rockville, MD) The National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (National NSSLHA) announced today the members of its 2021-2022 Executive Council.
National NSSLHA is the only national student organization for pre-professionals studying communication sciences and disorders recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). It has more than 11,700 student members in communication sciences and disorders programs and 340 chapters nationwide.
The organization’s Executive Council governs over National NSSLHA’s programmatic and administrative policies, including the strategic plan and budget.
“The past year has been challenging for students of communication sciences and disorders (CSD),” 2021-2022 National NSSLHA President Adrienne Graves said. “We’ve navigated our academic and clinical studies amid the uncertainty of a global pandemic, weathered the contentious political climate of a national election, and confronted fundamental issues of systemic racism and oppression in our society.”
Graves added: “Amid these challenges, National NSSLHA has been—and continues to be—an invaluable tool for students as they prepare for careers as CSD professionals. As the country focuses on recovery from COVID-19, National NSSLHA will support students in the safe transition back to in-person learning, we will continue to address the impact of systemic racism on our communities, and we will empower students to advocate on behalf of the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology.”
