National NSSLHA's Strategic Plan provides information about the goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives planned to support our Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Goal 1: Promote the National NSSLHA brand

Objectives

  • Clearly communicate National NSSLHA's mission, vision, and values.
  • Increase the efficacy of communications regarding National NSSLHA programs and activities.
  • Publicize National NSSLHA’s accomplishments and impact.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Revamp website to prominently feature "Who We Are" messaging.
  • Spotlight student success stories and program outcomes through website, blogs, social media, press releases.
  • Develop and distribute branded assets summarizing benefits and key metrics like members served, funds raised, advocacy wins.
  • Utilize National NSSLHA’s student leaders to present about NSSLHA’s benefits and programs.

Goal 2: Develop a culture and foster a community that actively prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion

Objectives

  • Provide support for students from all intersectionalities.
  • Increase awareness of available funding and mentorship opportunities for underrepresented students and explore additional scholarship opportunities.
  • Provide and promote events and resources that support DEI efforts and awareness among our members and CSD students and support their cultural responsiveness.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Utilize chapters and National NSSLHA’s student leaders to recruit culturally diverse school-aged and post-secondary students, including community college and university students. 
  • Develop and promote at least two Raw Conversations events annually.
  • Promote available student funding and mentoring opportunities and assess additional scholarship opportunities.
  • Perform an accessibility and inclusion audit on all National NSSLHA programs, services, and resources. 
  • Collaborate with multicultural constituency groups to increase diverse representation in all National NSSLHA programs, events, resources, and specifically student leadership. 

Goal 3: Strengthen connections between National NSSLHA and campus chapters while empowering advocacy and outreach

Objectives

  • Redefine and clarify the student state officer (SSO) role and responsibilities to better serve as a connection between National NSSLHA and local chapters and members.
  • Increase collaboration between the national organization and campus chapters.
  • Increase awareness of National NSSLHA programs and resources among local chapters.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Redefine and clarify the student state role. 
  • Survey chapter leaders and advisors about their needs and awareness of National NSSLHA programs, services, and products on an annual basis. 
  • Provide training and toolkit materials for chapter leaders and advisors on effective advocacy, outreach, and National NSSLHA engagement.
  • Disseminate overviews and updates on priority advocacy areas to local chapters.
  • Create additional opportunities for chapters and members to participate in advocacy. 

Goal 4: Cultivate cooperative relationships with CSD-related organizations and industry partners

Objectives

  • Create and maintain strong relationships with industry groups.
  • Collaborate with other CSD organizations on shared objectives.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Survey potential CSD organizations to collaborate with.
  • Have National NSSLHA attendance at key state and national conferences to network and explore joint initiatives. 
  • Expand partnership with the ASHFoundation to raise money for the NSSLHA Scholarship Fund.
  • Recruit and retain advertisers and sponsors to support National NSSLHA programs, services, and events. 
  • Train and equip National NSSLHA student leaders with strategies and tools to engage CSD-related organizations and industry groups.
