1. When do NSSLHA dues increase?
Effective for the 2007 membership year, dues increased on August 1, 2006.

The dues will increase by $15. They will go from $45 to $60.

3. Why are NSSLHA dues increasing?
NSSLHA membership dues have remaind unchanged for 9 years. In order to provide members with additional benefits we are increasing the dues to offset the costs of these improvements.

4. I am joining NSSLHA for the first time so that I can attend the ASHA Convention. What will my dues be?
Students can join NSSLHA on the Convention registration form by paying $60 for the 2007 membership year. The NSSLHA member rate for 2006 Convention registration is $180 before 10/4/2006, $190 before 10/26/06, and $240 after 10/26/06.

5. I was a member in 2006 and I am renewing in 2007. How much will I pay for dues?
Members renewing for 2007 will pay $60 for national membership.

6. I am graduating from a master’s program in 2007. I did not join NSSLHA in 2006, and I want to qualify for the conversion discount. What are my options?
NSSLHA will allow a student graduating from a master’s program to pay for 2006 AND 2007 membership to qualify for the conversion discount. Students that decide to take this option will be required to pay $45 for 2006 before December 31, 2006 and $60 for 2007 for a total of $105.

7. What is the Conversion Discount?
ASHA offers a discount of $150 off the initial membership and certification fees for master’s and doctoral graduates. To qualify for this discount, you must have two consecutive years of membership in NSSLHA at the time of graduation.

8. I did not renew my 2006 membership yet. How long do I have to pay the 2006 fee?
Students may renew or join NSSLHA in 2006 have until December 31, 2006 at the $45 rate. Membership will expire December 31, 2006.

Yes. The dues increase is effective for the 2007 membership year.

11. What is NSSLHA doing to communicate the dues increase to members?
NSSLHA regional councilors will send correspondence to their local chapters explaining the dues increase. Local chapters will be advised to discard any outdated, unused NSSLHA membership application forms. Local chapters will also be invited to participate in a conference call with the NSSLHA Executive Council to discuss the dues increase and how to prepare the local chapters for questions.
The National Office also post FAQs on the NSSLHA Web site and in the online publication "In the Loop" to explain the dues increase to members.
